RE: BBC News Study reveals shocking kebabs

Published: 2009-02-04

BBC study reveals - Officers from 76 councils sampled 494 kebabs to test their nutritional value, during the Local Authority Coordinators of Regulatory Services (Lacors) study.

Six kebabs were found to include pork when it had not been declared as an ingredient. Two of the six were described as Halal - food or drink permitted for Muslims, which must not contain pork.

Could you please investigate this further, how can we be sure the shop selling halah kebabs are aware the kebabs are truly halal as declare, and no hidden ingredient.
What we need to be aware to satisfy its halal.

In the Name of Allah, the Inspirer of Truth.
Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

Unfortunately, too often, we find that profits and bank balances come before the words of the Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam! Innalillahi Wa Innailayhi Rajioon.

It is important that our Muslim meat suppliers and takeaways are subjected to Consumer insistence, to provide products which are Islamically sound.

It is our belief, that without a structured, regulatory Ulamaa body, it will not be possible to reach this aim realistically.  It is all too tempting for the aberrant Muslim trader to mix suppliers here and there to "cut costs".

Remember well that Muslim Businesses will not approach 'Ulamaa by and large, unless and until the Muslim Consumer demands that they do for Muslim Consumer peace of mind.  Muslim Consumers are encouraged to convince Muslim Traders to do so.  You refrain from buying because of principle, and then the Trader will think twice.

We are particularly impressed with the HalalMc organisation, which Masha-Allah has been working relentlessly in the UK, ensuring that Muslims are eating Halaal. or email:

With Muslim Traders working with erudite 'Ulamaa then Insha-Allah the Muslim Consumer can be confident that they are indeed eating Halaal.

The ball is in the Muslim Consumer's court.

Allah reward you for your prowess.

And Allah knows Best Wa Alaykumussalaam
Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
