JusRol Pastry

Published: 2014-06-06

Recently I was alerted that jus roll pre-rolled pastry contains ethanol in the ingredients.  The source of ethanol I.e synthetic or brewed is unclear.  Is it permissible to consume such pastry once baked? If it is haram do you have to discard it or could you give to non-muslim freinds?
  Additional Information:

Thank you for contacting us to enquire about our Jus-Rol Chilled Puff Sheet 320g product.

Please be advised that the minimal quantity of alcohol in the Jus Rol Chilled Puff Sheet is added to the dough to maintain the shelf-life of the product. We would like to assure you that the percentage of alcohol present in this product is very low (approximately 1%), with the majority of the alcohol evaporating during cooking. In the Name of Allah, the Inspirer of Truth.
Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

JazakAllah for your inquiry.

Ethanol is listed as an added ingredient in Jusrol pastry therefore we consider it Haraam.
